One of the five main types of tea (white, green, oolong and black being the others), pu erh tea stands apart with its uncommonly soft earthy flavor and woodsy tones. Unlike all other teas, pu erh (pronounced 'poo-err') is actually aged. The tea leaves go through a natural fermentation process before the tea is gently dried. This creates a cup with zero astringency and a deep, rich body. Pu erh is extraordinarily smooth and deeply refreshing. Our Pu erh Poe (the shou variety of pu erh) gives a clean, woodsy aroma, warm hay inside a barn, mushrooms and savory vegetables. Wilted flower notes and a faint dark chocolate texture. Mellow and grounding. If the flavor is too strong for you, simply dilute with water (which, interestingly, doesn't work for many other teas!) Pu erh is extremely versatile - you can steep it for as little as 30 seconds or 30 minutes, whatever pleases your palate. It won't get bitter and is great for multiple infusions.

One thing I always liked about that show, the clutter. Their house was not spotless and didn't look like they had room for 15 people. It looked real in many ways, to me I guess. Only other show I remember seeing really depict that was "the middle" it's nice to see sitcom families also have clutter and messes.

I didn't realize they matched up this year. I think that only happens every so many years since usually harvest is in Sept and hunters is first one to follow that.

I’m no moon expert by any means but this is what I read… This year (2025), the full moon in September was called the Corn Moon, while the full moon in early October is being called the Harvest Moon because it is closer to the autumnal equinox. Both names are traditional, with the Harvest Moon signifying the time when crops are gathered, and the Corn Moon marking the specific time when corn was ready for harvest.

The Witch was tonight’s movie of choice, a 2016 release about a Puritan family in isolation comes unraveled in a swirl of witchcraft and possession, Starring Anya Taylor Joy and directed by Robert Eggers. Too many unanswered questions for my taste, very empty plot imo

Omg, we loved that movie. I loved that it was ambiguous. I don't want to put spoilers in case someone hasn't seen it but each time I watch it I can interpret it differently and wonder what the "right" version is and even if the director knows. And the score is so creepy. We went to a dinner last year with courses themed to the movie as we watched it. It was delicious fun!

Apparently I already celebrated frappe day. It’s soothing on my sore throat, so I had a matcha one this morning. I will have to take pictures of flowers later to celebrate flower day. Not a fan of LED light day; they are better than CFLs, fluorescents, and halogens, but I like incandescent. They are friendliest to my photosensitivity and migraines.

I loved the recipe that they had years ago before they changed it and started adding curry powder. I would get so excited for it and then one year when I had it the first time that season, it made me sick and then I found out it changed. I am thankful they list the ingredients on their website, so when I read it again, I was able to spot the change. John, thanks for the suggested website. If I make my own curry powder and omit the coriander then that might work. I don’t care for the very sweet versions.

The clouds actually parted enough to allow us to see the full moon last night and this morning as we went out for breakfast. So bright! Hubby started the day with Golden Flower and I had Camp Out, which is a wonderful fall-ish (or anytime, as far as I am concerned) blend by Twyla comprised of Lapsang Souchong, Chocolate Chai and Chocolate Chip with cacao nibs. The cold front is coming and waves of rain are coming through. I actually saw the sun briefly. The temperature is supposed to be at least 20 degrees cooler than yesterday by the end of the day. I wore my yoga shorts to class this morning and one woman teased me about how summer was now over. I said that I was wearing them one last time and I also wore my sandals. The studio air conditioning was still running so I was comfortable.

I think I should have did a rinse with the tea today. I like pu-erh almost exclusively for the earthy flavor it is known for, but my first cup definitely hit some heavy mushroom light fish notes. I am gonna try a second steep and see what comes of it before reviewing I think.

Last week I went to a Zumba class Tues evening. It turns out the class actually is run by a different person and is a dance class to mostly hip hop and only a few Latin songs thrown in. I am happy because I can do an 8 count beat but am totally clueless on the count for salsa music.
