Yesterday, John showed us his sunflower, which looked different from any sunflower I had ever seen. He let me know that it's called a Teddy Bear sunflower. I had to look them up immediately because I found them so interesting. The blooms have a soft, plush appearance, like a teddy bear, which is how they got their name. They don't have the big flat seed area that regular sunflowers have. They come in regular and dwarf sizes and in a wide range of colors and textures. I hope I'm not stealing John's thunder if he intends to tell us anything more about them. I had fun yesterday looking up information about them and looking at pictures. I thought some of you gardeners and flower enthusiasts might find it an interesting rabbit hole to go down. Happy tea drinking.

Paula, such a thrill (she lied 🤣🥵). I keep telling myself I only need to get through the next 6 weeks or so and then the weather will be a little more pleasant, hopefully. Of course I'm sitting here with all the fans on and the portable air conditioner blowing on me, and it's dropped down to an almost chilly 83° outside after 10:00 p.m. up until the last few days, we've been fortunate to still have cool nights, but it's creeping closer to 70 for low and that means the house never cools off enough. Michelle, annual medical check-up might have been a good idea today instead of the caffeinated coffee I drank from McDonald's. Pulse is riding steady at about 130 BPM, it should go down soon but it's never fun. Fortunately my blood pressure is always beautiful, the mid-range is 92/71 right now. Getting old is a joy LOL.

Good morning! My father-in-law sent me home with a zucchini that got lost in his garden...From that one behemoth (which I seeded before I grated), I made two dozen chocolate chip zucchini muffins, one dozen mini chocolate chip zucchini muffins, two loaves of zucchini bread, and froze a quart-size bag of shredded zucchini for more baking later in the year. Phew!

Good morning, and happy Monday (well, as happy as a Monday can be anyway). Keemun Rhapsody was in hubby's cup this morning, and I am currently sipping Blueberry (black). Yum! I added a couple Selefina Freeze Dried Berries...double yum. We went for our morning walk and I will now be tending to my African violets. I made a chicken pasta salad to have for our lunch today so we are all set. Just have to put together my grocery shopping list for tomorrow. Enjoy your day as much as possible. It will never come again.

Had back to school night tonight. My big first grader starts Thursday and she is excited. Schedule is so different from even when I went to school one state away. I feel like we got out of school close to when pools opened (memorial day) and didn't hit the books again til September. I think they get a shorter summer break than I did.

Im class of ‘03 and I remember going back in late August (like the middle of 3rd week) and getting out for summer break in the middle of May (starting the second week). Now its middle of August to end of May. I’ve been told (could be wrong) it has something to do with longer holiday breaks such as Thanksgiving and Christmas/ new year. As well as bad weather day makeups. So I too have noticed how much longer kids stay in school these days as well, and I don’t have any. I just pass MULTIPLE school zones on my way to work so Im pretty in tune with the school season, all of the buses I sometimes get caught behind. 😅
