Good morning tea pals. We are off to do our grocery shopping this morning. It was another hot one yesterday (101 for a high, according to our HVAC), but at least we got some rain in the evening to cool things down a bit. I hope your day is off to a great start. Eli hurt his paw somehow yesterday. We put him in the front bedroom, with his lunch, and went out to run some errands. When we came back and let him out, he was limping. He seems better today, but Henry chased him a lot yesterday, so Eli has chosen to hang out in the front bedroom this morning. Hopefully, he'll come out later.

Hope everyone's having a lovely day so far! Just wanted to thank the CTers who had advice about my sencha counter top stain, and the tea intel about potentially the iron in my water being responsible for the purple color! I tried to find who helped, but lost patience and you know who you are. My water does tend to be iron rich, we even have an extra water tank to remove iron, so whoever said that was totally on point! Plain hydrogen peroxide got the remaining stain out like magic, should have guessed! Happy sipping! :)

Almond Oolong tea offends me though I like almond flavoring a lot-- both its scent and taste. I can't help but feel that the tea isn't much of an oolong or much of a flavored tea. I'll take black Almond tea over this oolong any day! What I *REALLY* enjoy is marzipan though-- used to nibble on Marzipankartoffeln often in my early teen years because we were living in West Germany then. Johs, a department store there, had a bakery counter with all kinds of German goodies and back then we were getting 3 deutsche marks for each dollar. So, tasty treats while my brother shopped Playmobil sets and Mom explored home goods. I liked their cheap (not merely inexpensive) earrings and bangle bracelets. My family in Germany usually sent a box of Christmas goodies and gifts every year. It always included marzipan. My son went to Leipzig while in high school and brought back a box of the Niederegger marzipan. The company was the first to market marzipan chocolates. I have a recipe for homemade marzipan. I ended up driving an hour from my house to buy rose water to add to the mix just like the recipe called for. The first bite reminded me of the marzipan sent by my relatives. My friend whose family came from Ukraine doesn’t add rose water to her marzipan. Her comment was that marzipan is so simple to make, just almond flour and sugar. The potatoes were not a tradition in northern Bavaria where my family lives, so I first saw them at the local German import shop. My mother didn’t usually buy them, I always got the marzipan foil wrapped ornaments on my presents instead.

I pretty much ate any marzipan I could get my hands on. ;) Chocolate covered, cinnamon dusted, plain bars, you name it! I was 11-13 years old during the time my dad and our family was stationed there.

Angel, what lovely memories. I’ve never had the opportunity to live in Germany, but have loved every visit there. I have fond memories of German marzipan, too. Lübeck has an astounding amount of marzipan. The marzipan sculptures there are amazing also. Beautiful marzipan dreams.

Thank you, steeping this almond oolong now. I like adagios almond, but I think I can totally see why some are averse to it. It definitely reminds me of pure almond extract in the scent of it, but not so much like the but itself if that makes sense at all.

I got one back in May and I think I'd get it again. Mine had a 3oz bag of dreamberry (which was the special then), plus 3 sample sizes and I think there were some portion packets in there as well.
