I have a feeling that it’s going to be quite some time before I get to sleep. One of my windows connects to an uninsulated sunroom that has some weird panels. There is a tiny crack in the window casing in a corner of the metal that ants decided to use to make their way into the sunroom and they are small enough that they can crawl into my bedroom, even with it fully closed. I swear my house was built on a giant ant hill and 2 to 3 times a year, they invade, though always different parts of the walls or floors and different rooms. I have been fighting this one for over a week with the Terro. It will seem like it is working and then I get more. Anyway, an ant made its way into my bed. I took a flashlight to look for more and didn’t see any but now feel a bit paranoid. When I was young, we lived in Tucson and fire ant bites are awful. These are not fire ants but give me the cold sweats.

Ugh. Inevitably, every spring, the ants would invade our kitchen. Eventually, I accepted that I just had to give the kitchen a weekly thorough-going over in the spring months (March-June), and sometimes even then we would have an invasion. After we also had yellow-jackets nest in our house three times in the span of 18 months, we just decided to invest in a pest control plan. Best decision. Now, I'm not freaking out about the condition of my kitchen during ant season. Maybe it would be worth it for you to invest in one as well.

Oh, no! Yellow jackets are awful - so aggressive . I am seriously considering getting one but have to do more research as my parents tried two companies but still get invasions in their kitchen.

lol….In good ole Florida, ants are a crazy problem, we have a bug man for many years to get rid of them.

Kat, you have my empathy! I've been telling my husband for years that our house is built on a primordial ant hill. I use the real bug spray outside but not in the house because it affects me so negatively, picture hives between my neck and my knees. Indoors I battle the little beasts with Stem, Zevo, and vinegar water washes. It discourages them but you're right they're always finding new pathways.

We do the spray outside the house. I don’t use stem because I have cats and essential oils can be used deadly for them. It’s crazy they often advertise things as safe for pets but really are only safe for dogs as dogs metabolize many things like humans do but cats are more unique so things store in their liver. I felt bad when I read that because I used an essential oil diffuser for a couple of months but fortunately my home was big enough that they had places to escape to. So indoors I use the Terro ant bait that ants crawl into and take back to the nest but it must only kill part of it as they pop up in other places months later.🙄😬

Looks like if you search them individually they are available. Downside is the tin art will be different and the recipes will not contain any sprinkles or those type additions.

I had to look up Lincolnshire Day - very interesting. History is interesting. I love pumpkin spice (controversial, I know and funny that Starbucks sent me a notification that it is today but no special offers for it like they do for coffee day). Love homemade cookies, celebrating older persons day of whom I am very thankful to have in my life, black dog day (and love black cats too), and vegetarian day is great too. I am not a vegetarian and wish I could eat more veggies (I like many that don’t like me but root veggies are nice to me), but I love a vegetarian cookbook as they have great veggie recipes. It’s how I discovered roasted radishes, which are amazing with some balsamic vinegar,

I teach third grade catechism and I spoke about the feast of the archangels on Monday. A coloring sheet was a handout for taking home. I put the name and feast day, plus Little Flower of Jesus on the sheet. The relics of St. Thérèse are currently at the National Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak, Michigan. I need to see if times are still available to venerate the relics.

Happy October dear tea friends. It was cool and breezy yesterday for our walk. What a welcome change! I hope it stays this way for a long while. 40 Winks is a staple in my tea cupboard as I occasionally need help relaxing at night. I enjoy it and it definitely helps me to relax. Our two teenager cats love to try and catch keyboard fingers too. At one point Babka locked Alex out of his own computer from playing on the keyboard. He figured out how to unlock the computer but he made a thick cardboard cover to place over it while away for breaks during game play.

Oooooooo its spooky month, and Adagio is kicking it off with the cutest Halloween themed teas. The last three months of the year are my favorite. Fun, laughter, and sweet treats on Halloween, Yummiest foods on Thanksgiving, and everything glitters, feels cozy, and joyful around Yule/ Christmas. I always thrive this time of year, long nights, cooler weather, and sweaters!

Happy Wednesday tea friends! It’s a new month. Please keep my husband in your thoughts and prayers. He has been unemployed for almost two months. None of his interviews have borne fruit so far. He is optimistic about the interview he had today. A former colleague joined the company at the beginning of the year and was promoting my husband’s skills to leadership. He finally got an interview today.

so i read more on the "hybrid publishing". It's a good deal if you got the initial investment, but the company i sent my book to said in their literature, "Most books we publish do not sell in high volumes. You should proceed with our agreement primarily because you want to see your work in print, and you should not jeopardize your financial security to accomplish publication." which of course i only read AFTER submitting my book and wasting all my time...le sigh. lesson learned. Hybrid is for the rich who just wanna see their name in print...lol. I am going to have to stick to the more traditional route and finish learning about effective query letter writing. Not to be confused with my database queries...completely different beasts there.
