Oolong #8

Description

Oolong tea from Taiwan. Formosa, meaning 'beautiful' was what the Portuguese explorers called this island. The oolong tea grown here continues to be called as such. The intense pungency and exquisite bouquet of Formosa Oolong tea is regarded to be the finest in the world. Our 'Oolong Symphony no. 8,' comprised of large 'choicest' grade copper-red leaves with beautiful tips of silver is a wonderful introduction to this variety.

Story

Formosa, meaning "beautiful island" is what the Dutch traders called Taiwan. The teas grown here, mainly north of Taipei, continue to be called as such. Taiwan's unique soil and climate contrive to produce a perfect oolong. Its growing and manufacturing processes had often been copied, but a tea of equal splendor is not produced anywhere else in the world; Taiwan's oolongs are among the finest in the world.

"This is my everyday sort of oolong, not mind boggling but its still really good especially for the price. Great hot and cold. "

"This tea is pretty good, but not as great at #40. Still, it's a nice tea. I like to have it in the evenings. "

"First Oolong that I have ever tried, and I think it's at least as good as many of the plain Black teas that I have tried. I will definitely need to try more Oolong tea."

"While the smell in the bag was fairly bitter and unpleasant, this tea actually made a wonderful cold-brewed iced tea. It tastes very similar to a traditional black tea. The tea itself has many sticks and fewer leaves, but they didn't seem to hamper the strength of the cold-brewing."

"A nice, inexpensive, roasted oolong. I love roasted green tea (such as hojicha), so I was pleasantly surprised by the aroma and flavor of this tea. I suppose I had been expecting something akin to a plain oolong like those served in Chinese-American eateries. It's good for a couple of infusions as well."

"Smooth, refreshing, woodsy, very good tea. Not as good as Oolong #40, but the cheaper price makes this tea worth every penny."
