We apologize this item is temporarily out of stock. We are among the few companies to offer teas directly from origin. While this has the advantage of superior quality, the disadvantage is longer delivery times.

Decaf Earl Grey

Description

Black tea from Ceylon, decaffeinated using a superior CO-2 process. The latter is all natural and gentle, allowing tea leaves retain their delicate shape and flavor. Flavored with bergamot, a citrus fruit. Makes a tasty cup of tea, both hot and iced.

Story

It is said that in 1830, an Englishman named Charles Earl Grey traveled on a diplomatic mission to China, where in return for his act of kindness, a local mandarin presented him with the recipe for making this distinctive tea. A few corrections are in order. Firstly, the Chinese have never been black tea drinkers, and were unlikely to have a recipe for Earl Grey to bestow on visitors. Secondly, Charles Earl Grey never set foot in China. Otherwise, the story is completely true.

"This was drinkable--not as bad as the decaf Ceylon, probably due to the bergamot. But the decaf sure isn't the real thing--something gets removed in the decaf process of black teas. If you want a nice decaf, I suggest trying herbals or rooibos instead--Adagio has some lovely offerings!"

"Not bad for a decaf tea. I was a little worried about it having an icky aftertaste, but you can barely tell it's decaf!"

"I love earl grey and was SO excited to see that now I can enjoy the flavor of that great bergamot while also still reaping the benefits of decaf green tea. Great invention! I still drink it the "English" way - with sugar and lemon. Yum! "

"A tad bitter for both batches I made into iced tea, but I love the Earl Grey flavor, so I'll just use less (again) for attempt #3."

"This was my first Earl Grey, bought on a whim last year. Admittedly, I found it a bit strange at first, but it's become one of my favorites. Love it."
