No matter where the creator lives, steampunk worlds always seem to lead back to London, frequently quasi-Victorian in nature. A black tea, therefore, had to be the base (India tea in China pots, after all) and assam's smokey nature most appropriately fit the underlying workings of steampower. The history of the blackcurrant in Britain dates back to the 17th century, where it is grown more than anywhere else in the world, and it anchors this tea in an appropriate setting. On the other hand, the final element, ginger, comes from Asia and is certainly not tame. It offers excitement, adventure and, just like steampunk, the taste of another world.

I am rather fond of steampunk and asked myself what a steampunk tea might taste like. So I did the only reasonable thing I could do: I researched. I came up with two blends. This one is aimed at a lady of steampunk who is only as proper as she needs to be to get what she wants.
