Oregon

The summer of 2013, me, my mother, and my step-dad all went north-west to Oregon to visit my aunt, uncle, and cousins,who had moved to a suburb of Portland the previous summer. I'm from Texas, and being used to the 100-105 degree (fahrenheit) summers, I was relieved to be greeted by 85-95 degree weather, always with a light breeze. We went to farmer's markerts, where I had the sweetest fresh peaches, strawberries, and marionberries I had ever tasted. We would go back to my aunt's house from the farmer's market every weekend with pounds of peaches and berries, and then have no clue what to do with them. So I made dozens of cobblers, went into town to get some local ice cream to serve with the fruit, and then, when we still had some left over, I started putting it into our tea we drank with every meal. Being from the south, I have to have iced tea in the summer. It's a simple, delicious way to cool down and relax from the heat. I found myself looking at all the pictures from my summer in Oregon-- The Portland Rose Test Gardens, the trolley ride in Astoria, the FREEZING beach at Sea Side, the hikes through the falls-- and suddenly missed the month I spent there with my family. With this blend, I invite you all to momentarily escape back to the fruit-filled summer I had.
