@migratorymay hosts one of my favorite annual birdie challenges on Instagram, so here are a few fun facts about the birdie featured on the 15th, and also included as today's tea backdrop. The takahe is a large, flightless bird native to New Zealand and was once thought to be extinct until its rediscovery in 1948 It has vibrant blue and green plumage with a strong red beak and stout legs Takahe live in alpine grasslands and feed mainly on tussock grasses, using their beaks to strip the nutritious parts.

Michelle, your painting is beautiful. I taught my students about Takahë when we were learning about New Zealand. They are unusual. They evolved without competition from land mammals and didn’t need to fly. They fill a niche normally filled by small mammals. When they were rediscovered after being thought extinct, there was one flock of them left. Now there are at least two, due to New Zealand’s conservation and breeding efforts. Just stuck a pitcher of "Bella Luna Blue" in the fridge to cold brew. Anyone have any experience with how long to leave that particular one? Most I just leave overnight, but I have heard some say they leave some teas up to 2 days before pulling the tea out.

not sure with this one but I usually cold brew tea for about 12 to 15 hours on average with good results.

My pic today is of Frida Kahlo's Two Fridas from 1939. I always loved her take on Surrealism, where she took the dream/subconscious angle and personalized it. She loved doing self-portraits as she said the person she knew best was herself. We call her La Gran Ocultadora because she loved to mask and reinvent herself in her art. I'm off to a lunch and learn about summer corn, which should be yummy. Hope today is wonderful! Happy Sipping!

A good first story to try is the Speckled Band. It's well paced, leaves plenty of clues for the reader too, and has such an interesting end.

I’ve read some of Sherlock Holmes years ago. The Hound of the Baskervilles is quite a mind boggling story. I have been rereading the Brother Cadfael mysteries by Ellis Peters. These are set in medieval England during the time of the civil war between Stephan and Maude. I found the first book in the library at least 25 years ago. The first book title hooked me: A Morbid Taste For Bones. I also like the mysteries of Agatha Christie, Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple.

Hubby and I had a lovely day today. We went to see our neighbor at her new home at an assisted living center and then went on to do a bit of grocery shopping (where we also picked up some lunch). My neighbor is doing well and is quite happy in her new home, which was good to see. It is not very far from our house so we will make a point of going to visit her every couple of weeks or so. Her daughter is close by and visits often and another daughter calls her daily and will be here shortly to get her house ready to sell. So "Bella Luna Blue" cold brewed definitely a success. My 5 year old daughter had her last day of kindergarten today and she loved the cool color and adding the lemon juice for the extra color change effect. I thought it was delicious on its own, but she wanted sugar added.
