Nepal First Flush

Description

This beautiful hand crafted small estate tea from the Nepal Himalayas rivals those from the highly acclaimed Darjeeling region. With unopened leaf buds interspersed throughout, this first flush is complex and delicate. The cup color a clear golden yellow and the aroma is floral, slightly sweet with an underlying buttery note. The first sip reveals a touch of the floral nature usually found in excellent Darjeelings, but with a tender touch of ripe fruit. We hope you will enjoy this graceful addition to our black tea repertoire.

Story

Lying between China and India along the Himalayas, it was just a matter of time before tea plants were sown in Nepal's rolling hills. In 1861 that is exactly what happened, bringing forth tea harvests similar in character to those of the more famous nearby Darjeeling. Over time the slight differences in soil and climate, pristine mountainsides have given Nepal teas a unique, elegant character of their own

"Very nice. A little darjeeling, a little grass, a little hay :). Much better than it sounds. Its nicely rounded, interesting. Nice change of pace. 1.6 grams tea/4oz water. Steep 2:30"

"This was a wonderful tea, combining the round tones of Darjeeling with more smoky ones. I loved it. Definitely a new favourite!"

"As others have noted, this tea is *very* grassy. I had no idea what that meant until I tasted it, and all I can say is that it's sort of juicy in an earthy way. I do enjoy it quite a lot, though. Not a great morning tea for me, but I like it for afternoons. I like the smell and taste quite a bit. It's not one of my absolutely favorites, but I don't think it deserves the low rating it has. If you like trying new flavors, give it a try. It's definitely a VERY unusual black tea."

"Light, but very flavorful Darjeeling flavor. Not as peppery as some Darjeelings."

"This tea reminds me of the ceral fruity pebbles, but is a nice treat from time to time. I suggest steeping at a lower temperature to avoid bitterness."
