225 days till Halloween 💜🎃💜 Sabby and I again thank you for all the love and good wishes, we appreciate it so much!💜🐈‍⬛💜 Today I wanted to tell everyone about one of my best friends, the best roommate I ever had, and an all around inspiring person, im lucky enough to know. I met Robbie, in 2004 when I started working as a countergirl at a tattoo shop, he was their apprentice, after moving to Iowa, he was my first friend I made on my own, outside of the people I already knew in Iowa. Robbie and I have been friends ever since, around 2008 he was fighting for custody of his daughter, and I had a rather tragic ending in a relationship, we both needed people to depend on and trust, that's when we became roommates, I probably would have lived with Robbie and his daughter Cypress, still if my Dad didn't get sick, which was why I moved back to Illinois, to help my Mama. Robbie has been coaching his daughter's track team for years, and yesterday imbarked on a run across the state of Iowa, to raise money for a timing system. This will allow his daughter's school to host meets. He is the 14th person on record to attempt this 276 mile journey, and hopes to break the Guinness Book Record, all while providing the school a timing system. Today he set out on his journey in Ohmaha, Ne, he is currently 60 miles east into his run to the Illinois border. Is the Communitea month in the accolades only giftable, and not self-usable? I was saving up to get it that way, since it's expensive relative to even the samples (and I have a difficult time letting myself spend money on anything, so I have to go through a mental obstacle course before I can - sometimes even for stuff like groceries - and cost to amount ratio is one of the things involved in that). Anyway ... I just got enough, but the "need [number] accolades" changed to "send this gift" rather than "add to bag" like the other things. 😕

Good morning! Sweet Potato Pie tea for me this morning then shower and to visit my dad at the hospital. The cancer battle is now complicated by insane sugar levels-- over 550 the night he was admitted after a previous night at the hospital when the reading was also extremely high. The chemo and his diabetes aren't getting along. He's discontinued chemo for the time being (probably permanently is my guess). He's still himself albeit crankier on occasion and emotionally frailer at times-- hardly surprising between ill health/weakness and concern for the future (both his own and ours). Mostly, he's in good spirits. He likes joking with the nurses since he's a people person. And he's not adverse to being pampered either-- every need is on their charts and nurses are a good bunch (former CNA's opinion)! ;)

Do you know if the doctor has explored other chemo options? My husband is an oncology pharmacist, and he works with the doctors to adjust treatments all the time

I have some Teaster Marshmallow. I see it has been opened but I'm not sure I've ever tasted it-- may have taken a whiff and looked for marshmallows without making a cup??? I'll put that on my list for later today. Sometimes life just gets busy so I guess that's how I missed it.

Imagine you have the opportunity to apply for your dream job. That job you've always secretly wanted, but never actually thought you'd get. Then imagine that the secretary arranging the interview does not seem to understand, or possibly care, how time zones work. She sent me an email at 1:00 pm (her time) telling me to finish something by 3:00, or I won't be interviewed. Well, that's midnight and 2:00 am here. By the time I woke up, that deadline was long past

I would try emailing back and explain the time zone difference and see if they'll give you another chance

I emailed back, didn't do the math first. Didn't realize I'd missed the deadline by 5 hours. So, I'll find out when I login to the interview Sunday night. It's an American AFB, she has to know I'm half a day behind her. I made my time zone clear.

I went tea slumming today... Lipton. It's a flashback to childhood and I'm enjoying it.

Rebecca, Lipton was big in our home. I enjoy a good brew of it here and there as well.

It was a staple in my house too! I still keep a box of it on hand - partly to make gallon pitchers of ice tea, but also for a nostalgic hot cuppa.

I’m sure most of us have done it at some point in our early journey with good loose leaf tea. Lipton tea bags for sun tea was the only tea I knew until I was well into adulthood.

Good late morning. I started my day with a favorite, and tended to my little garden. Im getting a bit frustrated with the squirrels, if they aren’t digging in my potted herbs and flowers, they are eating my vegetable seedlings. I thought they learned year before last, no touchy, or you get the cayenne taste or in your face. Looks like it might be a few youngins that dont know I will spray the plants and powder the dirt. Last year no squirrel touched my garden, but I did leave them a few goodies (well away from my garden) in a spot just for them. Guess some training and redirecting is needed this year.

What a good idea, how does that work? Do you make Cayenne water and spray the plant and dirt? If so, in what proportion?

It has served me well, but the thing is, you will have to reapply the spray and powder after it rains and after you water. But so worth the trouble if you want to keep veggies. I do a gallon of water and 2 to three tablespoons of regular cayenne pepper powder. Spray any plants and veggies i want to keep and used a dry dusting at the base and surrounding plants to prevent digging. Its does irritate their nose and eyes, as well as mouth but it is completely harmless and many of the adults know the scent before even attempting to try. Ive had a few rabbits bypass the cayenne (some like it I guess) but i havent seen a rabbit in my yard in about five years.

I’ve been in the same battle. I have feeders just for them in two different spots, well away from my raised beds, but they just won’t leave my beds alone. They also dislike peppermint.

Good afternoon tea friends! The first full day of spring feels more like winter. Yesterday was rainy and the temperatures dropped all day. The Costco sheet cake for my birthday yesterday was a welcome addition to our soup and bread supper ahead of a video presentation at our church. The pastoral associate led everyone in singing Happy Birthday and Sto Lat and then said that the cake was ready to be eaten. She was almost more excited than I was. I found out after the video that she was foregoing sweets for Lent. She mentioned to our priest that she was going to have a second piece of cake, there was plenty, and he said that it was Lent. She didn’t have the second piece. I told her that my birthday is always during Lent and for that day my mother always made or purchased a cake for me. If I had to wait for the end of Lent I would be waiting a month this year and my son’s birthday would also have passed. If my birthday is on a Friday of Lent I have eaten fish and my piece of cake. I enjoyed the sweet potato tea today. Yummy with half and half. It smelled delicious.

Today's tea is OK. I steeped it for 4 minutes mostly for convenience -- I already had a timer set for something else and it was running out in 4 minutes, so I figured that was close enough -- but I don't really think an additional minute would make much difference for me. Rooibos and herbals aren't really my thing in the first place.

Hi Friends! Sipping on some Papaya Pouchong iced, this evening. Spring-y sips! I felt very 'off' the last two days with fatigue, so I slept for 4 hours, this afternoon, and it felt so tremendously helpful. Just weeks of a lingering cough and some malaise and tiredness, from whatever bug that's gone around...plus the cosmic weather, too!!!

All the bugs going around are nuts!

Twyla, my cousin and her husband are down with a bug too. I think there is a lot going around right now. I hope you get your energy back and are feeling great in record time.

We recently got a new TV bc the existing one developed some burned out sections and pink splotches visible on a white background that we could no longer ignore. Random preexisting TV stations with the pluto receiver or whatever of our new TV include a MST/Rifftrax channel, a Garfield and Friends channel, and a Hit Sitcom channel that has only cycled through complete runs of Perfect Strangers (YES), the Drew Carey Show (meh), and Growing Pains (no thanks) since it arrived. This is essentially a long-winded way of saying I’ve been deeply immersed in my beloved Perfect Strangers a while since its full run went twice in a row earlier this week so TGIF indeed!

Good evening everyone. I decided to have a completely Earl day today, starting with my Dark Side of BL, then EBeth’s Tulsa Earl, and now I’m relaxing with my own decaf London Fog. Teaster can wait for another time.

My first tea of the day is Jolly Roger..I know it's late but I'm not so jolly so I chose this blend. I've spent all day at ER. Best guess is flu, respiratory testing results due in 3 days.

My daughter has absolutely fallen in love with Jolly Roger! She drops a butterscotch disc in and lets it dissolve to give it added sweetening.

Well, I am making progress on my DDTS project! Emptied a large fandom tin today, and since I have put myself on a self-imposed tea buying ban, I'm not ordering and refilling with the fandom. I put a new label on the tin and refilled it with a tea from my stash that was in a 3 oz bag. I have two other large tins -- one fandom, one herbal -- that are almost empty. As soon as those empty out, I will do the same thing again. I still have a lot of tea -- a tea/coffee bar cabinet that is filled with tea tins and a bookshelf next to it with baskets all filled with bags of tea. But I can tell I've made progress as there is more space in my baskets. So, progress is being made!! :) Woot Woot!! :) I hope to have my tea stash tamed by this fall ! Lots of sipping to do!
