Known as "Minnie" to her friends, she was Myrna Loy, movie star extraordinaire, to the rest of us. With a career that lasted from 1925-1991, Loy was one of Hollywood's most popular actresses. Dubbed 'the perfect wife', she portrayed countless sophisticates on the silver screen. Appearing in 129 motion pictures, it's unbelievable she was never nominated for an Academy Award. Loy was politically active in left wing politics since the 1930's. She often called out the movie studios for their racist casting policies. She was a very fierce critic of the Germans during World War II, and also the Vietnam War. As an actress Myrna Loy was one of the best, but probably would have liked to be best remembered as an activist. She died at the age of 88 due to surgical complications.
