Description
A beautiful white tea from the Zhejiang region of China. It was first produced during the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907). Today Song Yang continues to be harvested and made exclusively by hand. Though this contributes to its fine character and flavor, it also severely limits its availability. About three thousand leaves go into the making of just one pound of this rare tea. All this hard work is well worth it. Our 'Song Yang Serenade' infuses a cup that's light in color, with a tender aroma and a sweet, refreshing taste. If you enjoy the subtle taste of white tea, we recommend you give Song Yang a try.
Story
Song Yang tea gets its name from the area where it is harvested. The Song Yang region is located in the southern part of the Zhejiang province. This area is well suited for growing tea: the climate is warm and humid and the mountainous region is crisscrossed by many stream. Song Yang tea is harvested only once a year, usually during the first three weeks of April. The leaves are gathered and processed exclusively by hand, an arduous process considering that about three thousand of them make up one pound of tea. It continues to be a rare find outside of China, often upstaged by its more famous neighbor, the world-renowned Dragon Well tea.
"This white tea has a very 'full bodied' flavor and has become my favorite white."
"Song Yang was a surprising white, and I am disappointed to see that it will be out of stock for a year. It is a bit stronger than other whites and has a very noticeable honey flavor. Perhaps not as complex as other whites it is nonetheless a great tea and a good choice for those who find the other whites too light."
"I've started seeing all other whites as budget silver needle. This is a good tea on it's own merits."
"a nice white tea, with subtle fruit in the finish. I like it."
"very light almost like drinking water but smells nice and green and is pleasant to drink."
"This tea had a strange sweet flavor and was bitter.....i dont reccomend it."
