Story
Tangerine is the common name for a variety of Mandarin orange. The name tangerine comes from Tangier, Morocco, the port from which the first tangerines were shipped to Europe in 1841. Throughout history, tangerines have been breeded with many other fruits. The most interesting hybrids include tangelos (tangerine and grapefruit), tangors (tangerine and orange) and tangtangelos (tangerine and tangelo). Another popular descendant of the tangerine is the Clementine, a seedless, sweeter version of the fruit that is easy to peel that is a "darling" at the holidays.
