Description

Looking for something truly unexpected and exotic? Guanabana may be flavor you're looking for. Not familiar with the flavor? Think of the candied flavor of strawberries and pineapple with a citrusy-tartness, mixed with bright Ceylon black tea. Quite a discovery!

Story

Guanabana could possibly the best fruit name to pronounce. It is more familiar in areas of the Carribbean, Mexico, South America, Philippines, and Southeast Asia. The prickly fruit resembles a green strawberry, and is quite the task to eat on its own. More popularly, the sweet pulp this fruit yields is used in ice creams, sorbets, juice, and candies.

"I enjoyed this tea a great deal. I was not sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised."

"Not really my cup of tea ... I was expecting something really exotic and if not tasty so at least somewhat flavorful. And that is not what that tea is. It just tastes like a medium-class black tea with some flavor added. This was the only real disappointment in my first tea order here (and still not bad enough to give it only 1 star ;-) )"

"This tea is weird. In a really good way. I've never had a guanabana in real life so I have no reference point, but this tea tastes like odd fruit, smells like odd fruit, and it's interesting and tasty in blends. "

"Add sugar and a little milk, and it tastes just like cherimoya! Custardy and tropical, I'll be picking this one up again."

"Steeped 1tsp for 5 minutes at 200 degrees. The smell of the fresh tea itself was very inviting and intriguing. Once I had steeped the tea, it was even more so! I had to wait quite a while for the tea to cool down enough to drink, but I couldn't stop smelling it in the meantime - it's very exotic, and reminds me a bit of passionfruit. When it was cool enough to drink, the taste was a bit of a let down. It wasn't near as strong as the smell had been, and I was really hoping for a mouthful of flavor. That's not to say this tea was bad, just milder than I had anticipated. I'll try to use more tea, or steep a little longer, to get that more impact that I was looking for."

"Very interesting flavor. The closest thing I can liken it to is perhaps starfruit. Not sweet but not quite tart either. I really like it."
