Description

Black tea from the Darjeeling region of India. Spring-time Darjeeling tea is famous for its lively 'bite' and an abundance of fresh flavor. This tea is a spirited embodiment of these qualities. Our 'Darjeeling Rhapsody no. 1' is a highly aromatic first-flush (spring) clonal tea from the upper reaches (7000 feet above sea level) of the award-winning, certified organic Sungma estate.

Story

Darjeeling is a town situated along the slopes of the beautiful Himalayas, 7,000 feet above sea level. It, and the tea plantations that stretch around it, are often enveloped in mist. This unique climate, and the region's loamy soil, combine to produce arguably the most prized tea in the world. But there's a downside to this fame: each year more tea is sold under the name of Darjeeling than can possibly be produced. Most of the imposters hail from the nearly Nepal, which shares some of Darjeeling's characteristics but rarely measure up to the original.

"I like this quite a lot. It's got a crisp, lemony taste that's ideal for waking up."

"Very good greener darjeeling, tastes more like an oolong than a black tea."

"Very refined light taste, a bit reminding me of a green tea. This is one of my favorite darjeelings, although it's a bit too expensive for everyday use."

"It was good. I am not the biggest fan of black teas. Put in a bit of lemongrass and it made it even better."

"I'm not a huge fan of Darjeeling teas and got this tea as part of a sampler. Generally, I prefer oolong when I'm in the mood for subtle, complex tea. That said, this is a good tea; if I were to suggest an adagio tea to a Darjeeling drinking friend, this would be the one "
