How does it work? How do you fix the tea in this?

Hello Karin! Heat the water to the appropriate temperature in a kettle. Add approximately 4-6g tea to the infuser that is placed in the mug. Then, pour the water over the tea. Steep as desired. Remove infuser and enjoy!

Is the extra lid offered because the original lid is prone to breakage, or to add a pop of color?

Hello Sharron! The extra lid is the same as the original. It's not prone to breakage, but things happen so we offer spare parts for some of our teaware.

Hello William! The mug itself is ceramic. The removable infuser is stainless steel.
