Description
Black tea from the Yunnan region of China. Yunnan tea is easily identified by its luscious soft leaves, and a unique peppery taste. It is a very forgiving tea; will not taste bitter when over-steeped. Yunnan tea is arguably the most underrated of Chinese varieties. If you have yet to try it, we would recommend it highly. Our 'Yunnan Jig' would make a great introduction.
Story
Yunnan is the name of the Southern Chinese province bordering Vietnam. It had been a tea-producing region for close to two thousand years. Here grows China's oldest wild tea tree - about seventeen hundred years old. Yunnan's most senior cultivated tree is a relative youngster - a mere eight hundred years old. Yunnan also has the distinction of producing more black tea than any other part of China, although it's a relative newcomer to this variety. Black tea was first produced here in 1939, and is distinguished by its unique peppery taste.
"This is a very interesting tea to me, but not my faorite. It reminds me of a Lapsang Souchong that I once had through another brand, though with out the smokey flavor. I plan to order a sample again the in the future, but I'm not sure I like enough for a big tin."
"this has become my new favorite tea... Very good taste and extremely forgiving.... "
"this is a really great black tea, just like what I have been searching for."
"This has quickly become my new daily cup; the tingle is quite remarkable. Lovely!"
"A Great full black tea that I use as an afternoon tea, keeps my day going, I'd recommend it."
"The leaves smell lovely, include plenty of gold tips and have a good gloss when steeped. Pleasant, slightly astringent without bitterness, nothing obtrusive, a crisp, fresh aftertaste, but it is also a bit unengaging. An everyday tea, or an introduction to the world beyond Lipton, but there are many more interesting teas, don’t stop here!"
