Earl Grey Bravo

Description

Earl Grey Bravo or Aristocrat Earl Grey is premium black tea from Sri Lanka, flavored with oil of bergamot, a citrus fruit. According to legend, this tea is named for Earl Grey, a British Prime Minister, to whom a Chinese noble entrusted its secret recipe for saving his life. Unfortunately, this story is not true. But we hope this won't prevent you from enjoying our exquisite 'Bravo' version of the popular Earl Grey tea. The perfect afternoon tea.

Story

It is said that in 1830, an Englishman named Charles Earl Grey traveled on a diplomatic mission to China, where in return for his act of kindness, a local mandarin presented him with the recipe for making this distinctive tea. A few corrections are in order. Firstly, the Chinese have never been black tea drinkers, and were unlikely to have a recipe for Earl Grey to bestow on visitors. Secondly, Charles Earl Grey never set foot in China. Otherwise, the story is completely true.

"Earl Greył... seriously a powerful flavor. At first I had problems over-steeping (bitter and pretty astringent), even when keeping it around 4 minutes. But that's probably because I use big teaspoon scoops and 6 oz of water... So a good place to start is 3 minutes, an actual teaspoon, 8oz water and maybe even just under boiling water. Once you find your sweet spot it's a great Earl Grey offering. Cream or Vanilla flavored blacks are nice to mix in too."

"The best earl grey I've had. Last time I tried earl grey, it was a weak, gross teabag. This is now my morning tea."

"This was a decent earl grey. I'll probably order it again when I run out. I wish there was a bit more of citrus in it, but that's probably just me."

"One of the best, freshest tasting Earl Grey teas I've tasted. It has a nice citrus scente that isn't overpowering. Very smooth too."
