Description

Black tea from the Assam region of India. Assam tea brews up a burgundy-red cup with rich aroma and strong malty taste. The latter makes Assam an ideal breakfast-time tea. Our 'Assam Harmony' is an outstanding second-flush (summer) clonal tea from Mangalam, arguably the finest estate in the Assam region.

Story

Assam is the world's largest tea-growing region, lying on either side of the Brahmaputra River, and bordering Bangladesh and Burma (Myanmar). This part of India experiences high precipitation; during the monsoon period as much as 10 to 12 inches of rain per day. The daytime temperature rises to about 103F, creating greenhouse-like conditions of extreme humidity and heat. This tropical climate contributes to Assam's unique malty taste, a feature for which this tea is well known.

"I drink black tea the Indian way - with milk and sugar. This makes a great cup of chai, and the deep, rich smell is so soothing. Be sure not to skimp on this one though, use plenty of leaves for your cup. I love this tea and I'm excited to try out some more Assam blends too."

"Got a sampler of this. Amazing. Not so much better than melody to justify buying regularly, but this is a great treat to have once in a while."

"Assam harmony is my all around favourite black tea. I save it for my roughest mornings, and the smooth caramel flavour will cheer me up any day. "

"This is really the first tea I've tried outside of bagged teas from the local grocery store. It is a really good darker tea, and typical of the black teas I was used to but with 10x the flavor. It'll be a staple."

"A nice tea with a nice aroma. But I'm not sure it stands out enough to buy again."

"A very dark taste. Not bitter, but heavy-duty black tea. A little in a blend Could give some nice bass notes to a lighter tea."
