Description
Black tea from the Assam region of India. Assam tea brews up a burgundy-red cup with rich aroma and strong malty taste. The latter makes Assam an ideal breakfast-time tea. Our 'Assam Harmony' is an outstanding second-flush (summer) clonal tea from Mangalam, arguably the finest estate in the Assam region.
Story
Assam is the world's largest tea-growing region, lying on either side of the Brahmaputra River, and bordering Bangladesh and Burma (Myanmar). This part of India experiences high precipitation; during the monsoon period as much as 10 to 12 inches of rain per day. The daytime temperature rises to about 103F, creating greenhouse-like conditions of extreme humidity and heat. This tropical climate contributes to Assam's unique malty taste, a feature for which this tea is well known.
"Assam Harmony – A very nice black tea. I was able to get some very nice flavors over a couple steeps. The color of the brewed tea was very nice and the smell was great. I think I’m going to do the Pepsi Challenge between this tea and the Assam Melody, I’m ordering a pound of the winner, but they’re both great black teas to have on hand. "
"I love this tea! It is my new favorite breakfast tea - bold and tasty!"
"A very good, if somewhat unexceptional, assam. Nice and smooth."
"This tea is wonderful! It is the perfect wake-up tea with its hearty flavor and beautiful red color. Watch the brew time as this tea can get bitter if brewed too long."
"I really like this assam. To me this has a full solid flavor..unlike the assam melody.."
"Very good black tea. In the evenings I like to mix it with a little bit of peppermint."
