Jane Austen's 1813 novel, Pride and Prejudice, focuses on the five daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet. Mr. Bingley moves to the neighborhood with his sisters and Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy. Elizabeth Barret rejects a marriage proposal from Mr. Collins and learns of a servant's accusation of Mr. Darcy being an unfair person. After Elizabeth confronts Mr. Darcy with the charges, he writes her, denying it. She visits Mr. Darcy at his estate with family members, before returning home upon learning of a family issue. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy become engaged after Bingley marries another Bennet daughter, Jane.
