Black Velvet, indeed. First, the leaves had this unique nutty smell to them. I couldn't pinpoint quite what it was. Then, while it was brewing, all I could smell was the smokey notes from the Pu Erh Dante. I became skeptical and wondered if I was going to like it. But then I tasted it. This is like the fine bourbon of teas. Lightly smokey, lightly sweet, with a definite carmely/butterscotchy finish and a bit of a gritty mouthfeel. My first cup I just sweetened with splenda, and to the second cup I added a dash of milk. I typically don't prefer milk in my tea. I just wanted to see what it tasted like. It wasn't until I added the milk that I realized how robust this blend is. I don't usually add milk to tea because I feel like it waters down the flavor. This was like drinking coffee! So totally robust, no flavor was lost to the milk. I'm truly dumbfounded by this tea. I had never delved into the world of black tea variety before this. I had no idea I could conjure up this sort of a flavor profile in tea. I had read about it, sure, but experiencing it is another story entirely. And I have the urge to keep writing because I can't get over the shock of it, but saying more would probably get redundant. I am truly shocked. (5 mins @ 212°F)

Way more smokey than I was intending. I was hoping for lightly smokey, but this is very boldly smokey. Certainly the amounts of lapsang need to be tinkered with.

My mother had been wanting to try Pu Erh tea for a long time and she was delighted to get this as teabags for ease of use, and she enjoys the full-bodied tea very much. Thank you!

Gave this to my grandmother for Christmas and my mother was eyeballing it with envy the whole time! Its a beautiful chest with a great selection of tea.

I really liked this tea and the roasted flavor. It reminded me a lot of genmaicha, so if you like a light, toasty tea, this is definitely a good one.

This is hands-down my favorite tea. It smells like lilacs and tastes like springtime.
